Biography

Ben Miller was born in London, England and grew up in Nantwich, Cheshire, with his parents and two younger sisters. After attending his local state school and sixth form, he read Natural Sciences at Cambridge and also started a PhD there , in solid state physics.

However, he didn’t complete his thesis after deciding to pursue a comedy career, especially after meeting fellow Cambridge graduate Alexander Armstrong in 1992.

They performed their first full length show tother at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 1994 and were nominated for the Perrier Comedy Award in 1996. This success led to the commission of the TV series Armstrong and Miller for Channel 4 and the BBC Radio and TV series The Armstrong and Miller Show.

He has also acted in films and TV series, including Steve Coogan’s first film The Parole Officer and the Johnny English films. Between 2011-14 he starred in the BBC TV series Death in Paradise, but his character was killed off after his request to leave the series to spend more time with his family. He has a son from his first marriage and another son and daughter from his second.

In 2021 with the cast of the popular period drama series, Bridgerton he received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an ensemble in a drama series. He plays the character Lord Featherington.

In 2016 he co presented the Tv series Its not Rocket Sciebce, with Rachel Rile and Romesh Ranganathan. A book based on the series was also published
