At the age of 15, Rebecca knew she wanted to be a psychologist. 3 years later,she was working towards a Psychology degree. But she took a detour to become a Pilot, following in the footsteps of her grandfather Ronny, her beacon of wisdom and one of the biggest loves of her life.
She thought becoming a pilot would finally make her feel “worthy”, “good enough”, and that those around her would be proud ‘I was wrong. Flying a small piece of tin through the sky is fun, but it’s not a license to enduring feelings of worthiness I hoped it would be’.
What she thought was a challenge, was really acute fear masquerading as ambition. So,she decided to step out of the pilot’s uniform and back into her passion – psychology.
After completing a Clinical Psychology degree, she opened her own practice.
The clinic thrived, with back-to-back clients and consultations booked months in advance, but she was working 15-hour days and approaching. burn-out.
So , with two suitcases, no roadmap and a plane ticket. She closed her successful business departed for Africa and began to do things that made her happy.
She even took piano lessons, where she met her soul-mate, Nyssa.
